At gloucester District Vets, we have an amazing team of friendly, capable Vets and Nurses, without which we would never be able to provide the service we do to the local communities.
Our Vets
dr ashleigh saville bvsc hons 1
Hailing from a small dairy farm on the Darling Downs in Qld, Ashleigh graduated from the University of Queensland in 2014 before beginning her career in mixed practice in Wauchope.
She moved to Gloucester in early 2017 and is loving the variety of work as much as she enjoys exploring the rolling green countryside of the district.
While she does have a vested interest in cattle medicine, she thoroughly enjoys the diversity and challenges of mixed practice.
When she isn’t at work Ashleigh enjoys helping out on her dairy farm, playing netball, baking and taking her border collie Alfie for runs.
Dr CLARE HODGSON BVMS BSc (VET BIO)
Although growing up in NSW, Clare completed her studies at Murdoch University, in Perth. During her uni years she spent some time “jillarooing” on stations throughout the NT and Northern WA.
After graduating, she cut her teeth in a dairy practice in Victoria, before progressing to the Beef world of Goondiwindi, Qld. She then spent a year and a half locuming around Australia and the world, with her last position being in the heart of rural Wales, servicing the beef and sheep industries.
After satisfying her desire for travel, Clare has happily settled in glorious Gloucester with her three legged kelpie, Ed.
DR BRADLEY VILJOEN BVSC bsc (vET BIOL) mrcvs
Brad graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2014. He began his career in a mixed animal practice in South Africa where he treated a variety of different species. This included everything from dogs and cats, to rhinos and elephants (sometimes all in the same day!)
He then spent 2 years abroad at a busy hospital south of London.
Brad relocated to Australia in 2019 to pursue his passion for mixed animal practice. He has a keen interest in small animal surgery and bovine medicine.
When not at work, you will find Brad in his workshop or training for his next triathlon
dr Benjamin Willcocks bvsc hons 1 MRCVS
Ben grew up in Macksville, NSW, where he lived with his family on a small cattle property.
After graduating from University of Queensland, he spent the next 10 years working in a variety of country and city practices throughout Australia and the UK, before purchasing the clinic from Dr Arthur Poynting
Ben now splits his time between Australia and the UK, and is primarily involved in the management of the practice.
Our Nurses
breanna mccloy
Bre completed her vet nursing certificate in 2007. She worked at Taree Veterinary hospital for 2 years, then started a full time position at Gloucester Veterinary Hospital for 5 years, After a short stint in Forster, Bre returned to Gloucester and is currently studying a diploma in vet nursing general practice.
She is a dedicated animal lover, owning 2 dogs, 2 cats & 1 horse. When she is not at work she enjoys spending time in the navigating seat in the rally car, walking her dogs, outdoor activities (camping, fishing ) & spending time with friends & family.
And of course, she is the proud Mummy of little Miss Saylah May and a very recent addition, Charley!
Peta wallace
Peta grew up in Manly, on the beautiful Northern Beaches of Sydney. Since completing her Cert IV in Vet Nursing in 2014, she has worked in small animal practice along the Northern Beaches.
In January 2019, she made the move to Gloucester to gain experience in a mixed practice.
Peta is looking forward to expanding her knowledge on large animals and also has a special interest in anaesthetics and emergency critical care.
Peta is loving the change of lifestyle here in Gloucester, and is here to stay.
TIFFANY JOHNSON
Tiffany has lived in Gloucester for over 15 years and is now married to her husband, AJ, who she met in her final years of school.
They are caring animal lovers, and have a horse name Magic and a dog named Charlotte. When not working, you'll find Tiff competing at the local and national agricultural shows.
She has recently had a beautiful little boy, called Henry, and has been settling in motherhood wonderfully.
KRISTEN BURK
Kristen moved to Gloucester in 2018 from the Northern Beaches of Sydney. She is currently studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary nursing, and is thriving on the challenges and diversity that comes from working in a rural Veterinary hospital.
Being an avid animal lover, she owns many different types of animals, including horses, chickens and cats to name a few. She is also a proud new owner of an adopted poddy calf called “Walter”.
When not at home, Kristen spends her time at the beach, riding her horses and pottering around her new Gloucester home.
CAYLA VILJOEN
Cayla obtained a Diploma in Veteriary Nursing from the University of Pretoria in 2009. She has since worked in various small animal clinics in South Africa and also spent 2 years at a busy hospital in England.
She has a special interest in surgery and anaesthesia. Her most recent position was as a theatre nurse at a specialist and referral hospital in Brisbane.
Cayla has since decided to trade the city for a country lifestyle and recently moved to Gloucester with her husband Brad and their 2 chocolate labs, Ella and Ethan.
